Every showroom has limited wall space for door samples, so the most useful trend data is the simplest: what are people actually ordering? W.W. Wood Products shared its February 2026 Top 10 finishes and Top 10 species, which we ran in the "Current Trends" section of our newsletter. Here they are, with what we'd do about them.

What the lists tell you

  • Walnut is the #1 finish. Walnut Natural leads the finish list, Walnut Bison is #8, and walnut is the #2 species. If your showroom has no walnut door on the wall, that's the first gap to close.
  • White and off-white paint is still the volume. Maple Polar, Pure White, Maple Beige, and Maple Shoji White hold four of the top five finish spots — and maple is the #1 species, because it's the painted-cabinet substrate.
  • Rift White Oak is the wood-tone story. Three of the top ten finishes are on Rift White Oak — Flagstone, Straw, and Yosemite Brown — and Rift Cut White Oak is the #3 species. Show at least one light and one mid-tone rift oak. (See how 5 Blox put Yosemite Brown on display, and our Straw walkthrough.)
  • Rustic and character species still sell. Hickory (#4) and Rustic Alder (#5) both outrank plain White Oak. In mountain and ranch markets, don't let a modern-leaning sample wall push those clients elsewhere.

Turning the data into a sample-wall plan

A practical rule: if a finish or species is in the top ten and you can't put a door in a client's hands, you are relying on a chip to close the sale. Audit your door samples against both lists, and fill the gaps in rank order. Newer finishes released since February — like the heavy-pigment White Oak stains and Maple Honey — are worth adding on top, because they're what designers will ask about next.
